Hair Raising Hair Style by White Sands

Amazing hair style courtesy of White Sands!  I was walking the beauty show in Las Vegas and I came upon White Sands Hair Care Products.  I asked “How did you get your hair to stay like that?”  The stylist told me that all they used was the White Sands Hair Spray and a Flat Iron.   Simply amazing! The stylist sprayed my hair with the hair spray and and then flat ironed my hair and it was perfectly stiff.  A few minutes later the stylist brushed my hair out and there was no sticky residue.  This is a fantastic product for women that have difficulty keeping curls in their hair!

Clairol Beautiful Collection

The ladies out there with relaxed hair have asked me time and time again whether they can color their after relaxing their hair.  Previously I would have said a resounding NO.  However now that answer has changed.  Clairol has recently launched the new Clairol Beautiful Collection one step semi-permanent hair color.  The color is a one step process.  So you just open the bottle and apply, wait 25 minutes, and then rinse out.  There is no mixing or mess!  Bonus – this hair color does not include ammonia or peroxide and yes it is safe to use after relaxing your hair.

Video Review: Instyler Rotating Styling Iron

A few weeks ago I went to an event in Soho, NY launching the new Instyler Rotating Barrel Styling Iron. At the event was celebrity stylist Dean Banowetz, think American Idol stylist for 6 years and stylist to Ryan Seacrest! Upon seeing the demonstration of the rotating styling iron I was quite hesitant to try. I thought it would burn my hands off! After the demonstration Dean could see my look of complete horror and decided to call me up and give me a one on one demonstration. Yay! Can I just say wow! Product Review: Aveda Sun Care Line

The summer months are soon approaching and I am getting ready for my fun in the sun.  Unfortunately by the end of summer my hair looks like a complete tangled mess.  My hair color is who knows what and the frizzies are all throughout.  What is a girl to do?  My answer this summer will be all Aveda.  Aveda has just come out with their Aveda Sun Care line to help protect your hair against the stresses of summer sun, salt water, and chlorine.  The line includes a shampoo, a hair masque, and a uv protector spray.  I decided to review the hair masque and the uv protector spray. 

 

Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil

Description:   Leave in sun protection spray for your hair.  The protective hair veil is supposed to protect your against the dangerous UV rays from the sun.  Think sunscreen for your hair.  This product includes Sunflower Seed Oil and Coconut Oil

Texture:  The Protective Hair Veil comes in a spray bottle and when pumped is a light mist.  

Smell:  Aveda is known for their natural Pure-Fume aromas which I love.  It has a natural combination of citrus and flowers.  It is not over empowering. 

Application:  I sprayed this product on my hair when it was wet and when it was dry.  I honestly saw now difference in the end results.    

Results:  The Sun Care Protective Hair Veil is an amazing product.  I tried the product for 2 weeks and not only did it protect my hair color against the UV rays it also left my hair a little softer and shinier.  I give this product a thumbs up!

Aveda Sun Care After-Sun Hair Masque

Description:   The After-Sun Hair Masque can be used anytime however it is specifically designed to give life back to sun dried, chlorinated hair.  The after-sun formula with morikue protein, tamanu oil, and organic coconut oil moisturizes sun-exposed hair.  The anti-oxidant blend of green tea, organic sunflower oil and vitamin E helps protect against free radical damage 

Texture:  The hair masque is a surprising light formula for a hair masque.  It is thick enough to condition but not heavy enough to weight down your hair. 

Smell:  It is the same citrus flowery smell as the Hair Veil  

Application:  This product is to be used after shampooing.  I put about a quarter size on the palm of my hands and rubbed through my hair.  I then combed it through.  I left it on for about  4 minutes and then rinsed through.  The application was like any other hair masque, however, the texture was a little lighter then others I have tested.     

Results:  The Aveda Sun Care After-Sun Hair Masque is a great accompaniment to your overall sun protection regime for your hair.  My hair was noticeably softer and looked less damaged.

Global sustainability leader Aveda announced it has become the first beauty company in the world and only the second U.S. company in any industry to receive a Cradle to Cradle (C2C) sustainability endorsement, with seven Aveda products achieving Gold Level C2C certification.

Today’s endorsement comes from sustainability consultancy McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, LLC (MBDC), the firm that pioneered the concept of Cradle to Cradle design, and the implementation of eco-effective design principles. Cradle to Cradle product certifications, completed by MBDC and its affiliate, the Hamburg, Germany-based Environmental Protection and Encouragement Agency (EPEA), recognize Aveda’s recent extraordinary efforts to develop products and processes that conform to the world’s most advanced standards for intelligent design, sustainable stewardship and reuse of materials.
