Steal Scarlett Johansson’s Hair at Iron Man 2

We love to hate Scarlett Johansson – she’s just so attractive, and her fresh, softly textured updo at her recent movie premiere was no exception.

The look was created by leading celebrity stylist David Babaii, and it was a perfect complement to the flowing waves and graceful lines of her ice blue Armani Prive dress, the look emphasized a flowing cascade of smooth, well-conditioned waves pulled back into a graceful bun.

In styling Scarlett, Babaii used Argan Oil-infused Moroccanoil products to create the fabulous effect. “I started with wet hair, working in Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream for gentle hold and to create a texture that was soft and smooth. With my hands, I then scrunched her hair and manipulated it to get the desired shape that I was looking for. I also used a diffuser to help shape the curls.

“Next, I gathered Scarlett’s hair and pinned it around the back of her head to create a simple and elegant bun. The curls looked beautiful and defined themselves. To complete the look, I misted Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray all over. Scarlett’s hair looked fresh and soft, with lustrous curls and fabulous shine. The Morrocanoil products were amazing to work with and helped complete the perfect red carpet look!”

Isn’t it fabulous? As the weather gets hotter and more humid, we need more tips and tricks up our sleeve to survive the elements. A look like this is a great weapon in that battle! Try to be careful with use of products like Argan oil – they are amazingly effective, but very concentrated. So only use small amounts, or your hair may just look like it needs to be washed!

Shea Butter: A Moisturizing Powerhouse

loccitane, shea butter, shampoo, conditioner, reviewWhen I wore my hair naturally in two-strand twists or in a twist-out style, I relied on shea butter to moisturize and strengthen my hair. But I always thought shea butter was too heavy for relaxed or finer hair types.

Fortunately, I was wrong. There are many products on the market that use the moisturizing powerhouse shea butter to condition, moisturize, and strengthen all hair types. Two products that caught my attention recently are L’Occitane’s Shea Butter For Dry Hair Shampoo and Shea Butter For Dry Hair Conditioner.

L’Occitane’s Shea Butter For Dry Hair Shampoo is a light sudsing shampoo with a subtle, calming scent. I was impressed with how soft and smooth my hair felt after using the shampoo – even before conditioning. As I have mentioned in previous blogs, though, I suffer with itchy scalp. So, while the shampoo cleaned my hair well without stripping it, it did not calm my itchy scalp, even after shampooing twice. Since that first trial, I’ve used Shea Butter For Dry Hair Shampoo after shampooing with Tea Tree Shampoo as a way to begin softening my hair before using conditioner. I like this shampoo combination a lot.

I then follow with L’Occitane’s Shea Butter For Dry Hair Conditioner. Shea Butter For Dry Hair Conditioner is a lightweight conditioner that packs a punch. I left the conditioner on for five minutes and then rinsed with lukewarm water. The conditioner rinses well and does not leave a heavy coat on my hair. I was pleasantly surprised at this conditioner’s ability to soften, smooth, and de-frizz my hair.

Give your hair a chance to soak up natural moisture. Try L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Dry Hair Shampoo and Conditioner.

Flat Irons for Brazilian Keratin Treatments

When performing the Brazilian Keratin Straightening treatment (BKT), the Keratin Complex by Coppola Treatment, the Global Keratin Treatment, or any other Keratin based treatment the straightness of your hair is only as good as the flat iron you are using. We have reviewed a number of flat irons and straightening irons and have found the best flat irons to get your locks silky straight. These flat irons will help to activate the Keratin treatments and create longer lasting results.

What to look for?
Titanium Plates
When straightening your hair with any Keratin treatment your flat iron plates must be made with titanium. Titanium has an unbelievable ability to retain high heat. Most ceramic surfaces will loose heat as soon as you start to iron. The titanium plates will retain the heat once you start straightening. This will result in that beautiful shine on your hair.

450 Degrees or Above
In order to activate the keratin in the treatment the temperature of the flat iron temperature should be approximately 450 degrees. Normally when ironing your hair you honestly don’t need anything above 400 degrees or so but when doing the Keratin treatment it is important to have an iron that can go up 450 degrees.

Best Flat Irons for the Keratin Treatments

Here is our list of the best flat irons to use when performing a keratin treatment.

Lea Michele Says Protect Your Hair

Lea Michele,Lea Michele hair,Lea Michele hair style,Lea Michele hairstyle

Lea Michele, the star of my fav new show Glee, puts her hair through the ringer each and every day. Lea Michele’s hair routine starts with blow drying, then straightening with an iron, and then adding extensions! My gosh that is a daily routine. What is her secret to keeping her hair healthy? Use protection on your hair. Yes like a thermal protector. It is so important to use a thermal protector on your hair daily to help fight the effects of heat damage. This is even if you just use a hair dryer. I use the CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protector and I love it since it is light and doesn’t leave a nasty residue on my hair.

2010 Spring Hair Trends

This spring it’s all about letting your locks embrace the whimsical, refreshing atmosphere of the season. Below, Hallie Bowman, Celebrity Stylist for Pantene, shares an inside look at what to expect.

claire danes, claire danes hair, claire danes hair style, claire danes updo“Last season, we saw a lot of conventional looks – super sleek, tamed texture, perfect twists and classic chignons. When I think spring, I think unexpected playfulness, so I’m excited that the hair trends I’m seeing are in synch with the essence of the season. Classic styles will go to the extreme or, as I like to think, depressed winter hair is finally ready to be exposed again, yet looks will still maintain a genuine romantic feel that reflects the positive mood of warmer weather.”

  • Expect to see classic looks, deconstructed. Everything from deeper, more oddly angled side parts to random messy strands off to the sides will be added to enhance those been-there-done-that styles.
  • My term for a favorite trend I’m seeing – “Urban Romantic.” Hair is tightly pulled back in a pony with lots of wisps in front to frame the face. Instead of a completely sleeked-back method, adding texture can show off your personality. Crimp for attitude, wave for elegance or spiral for romance – style how you feel!
  • Lots of frizz will be in, frizzy curls included. Don’t bother repressing wild texture: embrace it, live it, love it. Free your frizz with intention and purpose, but don’t forget to polish your ends, try the Pantene Pro-V Smooth Serum, as you don’t want to lose total control.
  • Bows will be out in full force for spring, think huge 80’s-style Madonna bows. To counter an angelic sentiment bows usually portray, it’s time to be clever with your bow style. Disheveled, punky hair surrounding the bow gives a carefree, yet put-together look all at once.
  • Be prepared for the relapse of the thick, heavy eyelash touching bangs…it’s coming back.
  • The most playful trend I’m seeing – especially with the younger crowd – touches of pastel colors in hair. Take a section of hair underneath your nape, bleach it a pastel color and, voila, it’s a hidden treasure! Ashy colors like lavender, blue and purple tones will be popular.
