Queen Latifah’s Oscars Hair and Hair Style!

queenlatifah

Queen Latifah looked amazing on the red carpet with her slicked back hair.  Julie Baker, Quenn Latifah’s hair stylist told StyleBell that “Latifah’s dress is very elegant, modern and chic, and her hair needed to complement this, so we decided on a modern chignon which features very smooth hair, a side part, bangs that swoop down in front, a low bun in the back that is off to the side.”  StyleBell must agree that Baker did a fanstastic job.  Wondering what flat iron Baker used on Queen Latifah?  It was no other than the FHI Heat styling iron.  Buy FHI Heat here plus get $20 off today!

Do you want to recreate Frieda Pinto’s low flower chignon Oscar hair style at home.  This is a great wedding or prom look!

Celebrity stylist, Jeffrey Paul, created a fresh and elegant red carpet hair look for Frieda Pinto.  Pinto’s hair is divided into three parts and twisted back into an architectural, couture flower shape on the right side of the head.  “This look has a beautiful architecture; hair is twisted back into a youthful, feminine flower shape that complements Frieda’s face shape and stunning Galliano gown.”

Here’s how to get Pinto’s look:

1. Start with clean blow dried hair.

2. Mix a cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip.  Work the product into wet hair to add texture and volume.  “When creating an updo, it’s important to use products that give thickness and body,” said Paul.  “Pinto’s hair already has a lot of shine.  The cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip provided just the right amount of hold, body and texture without weighing hair down.”

3. Blow dry hair back to add lift and height at the roots.

4. Create a left side part and divide hair into three sections: three quarters of hair in one section on the right and the remaining hair into two smaller sections.

5. Pull the right section of hair back into a low ponytail just behind the right ear above the nape of the neck.

6. Twist the ponytail, working Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip into hair. Wrap the ponytail around the base, creating a flower shape. Secure in place with pins.

7. Work Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip into each of the remaining sections and twist back and around the flower shape, creating a layered, rose-like effect.  “The three twists flow together for beautiful movement,” said Paul.

8. Finish the look with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray.

9. Lastly, shake the head a bit to loosen up the look and provide a sense of natural movement.

Don’t we all love Aveda!

Angelina Jolie’s Oscar Hair Style

angelinaoscar

I know everyone must be wondering how to get the fabulous Oscar red carpet hairstyle that we saw on Angelina Jolie! Angelina’s hair was amazing and picture perfect at the Academy Awards. StyleBell is here to uncover the her flawless hairstyle. One of my favs, David Babii, styled both Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman’s Oscar night hair styles. Read how David created Angelina’s ‘do.

How to Get Angelina Jolie’s Hair

1. “To achieve this romantic cascade of curls, I sprayed her entire head with David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray and scrunched it into the hair. This gives just the right texture and hold.”

2. “Next, I dried her hair by dividing her tresses into three sections: top, sides and back leaving the nape area free. Taking small sections starting at the nape, use a blowdryer with a nozzle attachment and finish the drying process with a large round brush to smooth hair straight.”

3. “At the crown area, I sprayed David Babaii for WildAid Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier to the root area and down the hair shaft. Then, I dried this section with a jumbo round brush to add lift and volume.”

4. “Once dry, I sectioned the hair again using the same sectioning process as I did for blow drying. Using the David Babaii for WildAid Styling Iron, I once again sectioned the hair into three sections: top, sides and back leaving the nape area free.”

5. “To curl, use the Styling Iron to create “ribbon curls” by taking small “V” shaped sections. To achieve, wrap the hair around and inside the styling iron close to the scalp area and pull the iron down (similar to curling ribbon).”

**Note: Using “V” shaped sections eliminates the appearance of parting in the hair.**

6. “After curling the entire head, I smoothed some of the curls with a brush while leaving some intact.”

7. “At the crown area, I back-brushed the hair at the scalp area only, sprayed some additional Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier and gently smoothed the surface not to remove too much of the back-brushing.”

8. “Next, to create her half-up, half down look, I brushed the sides up and back and secured with pins.”

9. “To complete the back, I ran my fingers up several curls to create volume and variations in texture. For a long but natural lasting hold, I used David Babaii for WildAid Mise en Plis Light Styling Spray.”

Penelope Cruz was a vision at the 2009 Oscars.  As the winner of the 2009 Best Actress award for the movie, “Vicki Cristina Barcelona” (which I loved!), Penelope Cruz’s dress, hair, and makeup were amazing in unison.  Her hair was simple yet classic.  Penelope had a classic bun hair style with bangs that only Penelope can pull off.  Ladies don’t try this one at home.

Kate Winslet Wow!  Kate Winslet looks beautiful at the Oscars Academy Awards!  Her hair is a combination of futuristic robot with old world classic.  Ideally I feel that her hair should have been a flop, however, the molded hair style maybe my favorite of the night.  I like how the hair is pulled back and shows off her dynamic perfect complexion!  Kate Winslet was the winner of the Best Actress award for “The Reader”.  Congrats Kate!

Freida Pinto Hair and Hairstyle at the Oscars!

pintofreida

Freida Pinto, at the 2009 Oscar’s, looks fabulous with this embroidered blue dress and side swept low chignon bun.  Her hair is traditional and classic, however I believe the stylist could have finished it a little nicer.  I did see a few stray hairs!  I also have a feeling that her dress may look more captivating in person than in this picture.  I am not so sure about the one sided sleeve, a little figure skating like.  Freida Pinto is one of the stars of the fabulous movie Slumdog Millionaire which was the winner for best movie for at the Academy Awards!
