Michelle Obama’s hair was simply breathtaking at last week’s American Ballet Theatre’s Opening Night Gala.  It wasn’t the dancers that swept me off my feet but Michelle Obama’s classy look. This style is perfect for day or night. The volume and over-exaggerated bang add flair and glamour to this otherwise simple style.  Achieving the look is quick and easy with a few simple tips.

StyleBell’s expert Roslyn Baker shares tips on how to recreate Michelle Obama’s elegant ‘do in a few short steps:
STEP 1.  Start with smooth, sleek and straight foundation by relaxing the hair with the Soft & Beautiful No-Lye Conditioning Relaxer. For fine hair, avoid relaxing the crown area for maximum fullness. Apply the Soft & Beautiful StyleProtect Nighttime Dry Wrap Mousse to the crown area of hair as you begin to blow-dry.
STEP 2.  Once dry, apply a small amount of Soft & Beautiful StyleProtect Sculpting Gel around the hairline and smooth with a bristle brush.
STEP 4. Section off the crown area.  Spray the Soft & Beautiful StyleProtect Spritz on a small sub-section of hair. Using a large barrel curling iron, lift the hair up for maximum volume.  Repeat this process until the crown area is completed. For the remaining back and side, use a flat iron or large barrel iron to smooth and turn the hair under.  For maximum volume, lift the hair away and up from the scalp with the irons and gently smooth them down hair line.
STEP 5. The soft, side swept bangs are glamorous and sexy.  Spray the bang area lightly with the Soft & Beautiful StyleProtect Spritz. Using the large barrel irons or flat iron curl hair over to the side. Use clips to hold the bangs in place and spritz once more. Use a large tooth comb to comb the hair into place.  For added shine, spray the hair with Soft & Beautiful Oil Sheen Spray.

Michelle Obama’s Stylist Johnny Wright

johnny-wrightDid you know that Michelle Obama’s former Fekkai stylist, Johnny Wright, is in talks to getting his own show?  Yes his own reality show!  I wish I was her stylist.  What I could do on my own reality show!  It would be simply fabulous.   Johnny Wright, who styled Michelle’s hair during the Democratic National Convention and her upcoming Vogue issue, is definitely a celebrity stylist.  He has also styled the hair of the likes of Vivica A. Fox, Rebecca Gayheart, and Candace Bushnell.
We don’t have the scoop on the subject of the reality show but we promise you that we will get it out to you as soon as we hear.

Michelle Obama uses FHI Flat Iron

michelle-obama-fhi1I have heard through a few very close dear personal “stylist” friends that Michelle Obama uses the FHI platform flat iron!  Don’t we all love our FHI.  The FHI platform hair straightener is one of the top profession flat irons on the market.  It is packed with ceramic nano tourmaline goodies.  The sb-00500-2tbest part is this iron gets to over 450 degrees which is what you need if you have African American hair.  Check out FHI Flat Irons here.

Michelle Obama Hair and Hairstyle

Sophistication, down-to-earth, Mom, educated, and truthful are just a few words that come to mind when I think Michelle Obama, wife of Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama. Michelle even shops at Target and H&M. I love it! With the ongoing Presidential election under way Michelle Obama’s hairstyle has been quientessential sophistication throughout the campaign. Even Vanity Fair agrees, they put her on its International Best-Dressed List for the second year in a row. Simple yet beautiful.

Johnny Wright, celeb stylist at the Frederick Fekkai salon, is the stylist of choice for Michelle! Johnny says that he primarily uses a flat iron to make Obama’s glam look. He also on occasion will use a ceramic curling iron to do the flip out look that Michelle sports so well. View more beautiful hair styles from Michelle Obama.
